In Genesis 1:27, we read that “God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.” This profound truth forms the foundation of our curriculum, recognizing that every child possesses inherent creativity and the potential to make a meaningful impact on the world through their art and design.

Our curriculum is designed to nurture these abilities across all stages of a child’s development. It is prayerfully, thoroughly, and thoughtfully structured to provide age-appropriate, biblically integrated learning experiences that grow with your child, from their earliest years to their final steps into adulthood.

Little Makers (K-2nd Grade): At this foundational stage, we focus on sparking curiosity and wonder in our youngest learners. Through playful exploration and guided activities, Little Makers begin to discover their creative abilities, learning basic artistic skills and the joy of expressing themselves with an eye towards serving and loving others in the process.

Junior Makers (3rd-5th Grade): As children grow, so does their capacity for more structured learning. Junior Makers dive deeper into various artistic techniques and mediums, learning to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation and how they can mirror that beauty in their work.

Mid-Makers (6th-8th Grade): During these formative years, Mid-Makers start to refine their skills and explore more complex concepts in art and design. They are encouraged to think critically and creatively, understanding the role of their faith in their creative process and how their work can serve as a testimony to God’s greatness.
Rising Makers (9th-12th Grade): In the final stages of their education, Rising Makers are equipped with advanced skills and knowledge, preparing them for future academic and professional pursuits. They are challenged to create with intentionality and excellence, recognizing their responsibility as stewards of God’s gifts. They come to understand how their art can influence and inspire others, shaping society for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom, across many spheres of influence.

Through each phase of the Made Maker Christian Art and Design Curriculum, we are committed to fostering a Christ-centered environment where creativity thrives, and every child can grow into the artist God made them to be. We invite you to join us on this transformative journey, where faith and creativity unite to honor the ultimate Creator.

Our Curriculum frames your children’s thinking and experience in the grand biblical redemptive narrative, following a yearly cycle of:

Creation – Fall – Redemption – Glorification

This liturgical approach immerses students in the grand narrative of the Bible, providing a proper context for understanding themselves and their learning, regardless of age.

Curriculum Thumnail

Within this framework, we emphasize three core doctrines

  1. The Lordship of Christ
  2. A Theology of Creation
  3. Being made in the image of God

These triadic core of Doctrines will help students/children particularize who we make art for, what we make art with, and why we make art.

The Redemptive Narrative and core doctrines frame and support five integrated categories of learning that guide students in becoming well-rounded Makers. These categories also serve as evaluative criteria for continued development and understanding, remaining relevant throughout a maker’s post-educational journey.

The five subsidiary categories are:

  1. Makerly/Creative Process
  2. Theological and Visual Thinking & Communication
  3. Historical Understanding and Cultural Discernment
  4. Growth and Development in the Arts
  5. Maker Foundation

This framework provides a comprehensive and cohesive approach to Christian art and design education, ensuring that students develop artistically and spiritually.

Through Made Makers, our goals for visual arts and design education are twofold:

  1. Personal Growth: To facilitate each student’s holistic development, ensuring their demonstrable growth as individuals.
  2. Creative Vision: To deepen their understanding of their calling to create, using their talents for the good of all, for God’s glory, and in the spirit of loving their neighbor as themselves.

By integrating these aspects, we aim to cultivate well-rounded makers who excel personally, creatively, and corporately.

We want to develop generations of Makers who see the world as the Lord Jesus intends. Makers who aim as God’s people, His church, to work together to usher in greater creativity in every sphere possible, creating that which is true, excellent, and reformational. The world can’t choose what it has not seen nor heard; if we don’t make it, they can’t choose, and neither can we! It’s time to change that!
